Enjoying food and wine at Les Volets Bleus...

Bed and Breakfast with breakfast in Sallèles d'Aude | Maison d'hôtes Les Volets Bleus

Breakfast

A generous continental buffet breakfast is served in the airy dining room – orange juice, fresh and dried fruits, cereals, yoghourts, great bread from the local bakery, freshly-baked croissants, jams, local honey and a choice of hot drinks.

Breakfast is available from 8am to 10am but we are usually quite relaxed about the finish time – after all, you are on holiday.

Evening Meals

Our 4-course dinners are very popular – we use as much local produce as possible, and menus are varied according to the season and weather.

The cost is 30€ for 4 courses – starter, main, cheese and dessert, including apéritif, wine and coffee. Children’s meals are priced according to size and amount consumed.

Wines

House Wines The wines served at dinner are from an award-winning local winery, Domaine Lalaurie

which is well worth a visit to be able to taste the whole range – we can call ahead to arrange a tasting time for you.

Wines of the region

Situated as we are in the heart of the Languedoc, nestled between the Corbières and the Minervois, with La Clape to the east and Fitou to the south, there is an embarrassment of choice for wine visits – fortunately we’ve worked hard at researching the area(!), so can help put together a wine-tasting outing.

Here are a few vinous links for you to check out –

Wine Tasting Weekends

We run wine tasting weekends at various times through the year, See our Short Breaks page for further details.

Food and Gastronomy

There is much to interest the foodie visitor to the area – many local restaurants, a growing collection of Michelin stars, where lunch is still a great value treat - but for our money seeing some of the various producers working ‘in situ’ and maybe buying a few goodies to put together a lovely picnic is one of the nicest ways to eat.

*A veritable must-do is a wander round Les Halles de Narbonne , the stunning covered food market as seen on Rick Stein’s canal odyssey a few years ago.

*We also have a list of all the local market days in and around the area;*Taste award-winning olives, oils and tapenades at l’Oulibo

*Explore a wonderfully authentic goat’s cheese production in a stunning rural setting at La chevrerie de Combebelle

*Learn about the life of bees and try the delicious local honey, as served at breakfast The Bee City

*The salt pans are a haven for bird life as well as making sea salt and ‘Fleur de Sel’ in Gruissan, out on the coast, not forgetting the great restaurant with a view over the salt-pans Le salin de l’ile Saint Martin

*Enjoy oysters fresh from the sea at La Perle Gruissanaise, open every day from 0900-1900 non-stop – very handy for a late afternoon snack!

*Slightly further away but makes a fabulous day trip –a visit to the Roquefort cheese cellars, followed by a tasting of Noilly Prat , France’s best known vermouth in the lovely village of Marseillan on the Etang de Thau .
